Keeping in Stride With God
"The true test of a person’s spiritual life and character is not what he does in the extraordinary moments of life, but what he does during the ordinary times when there is nothing tremendous or exciting happening." --Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, October 12
The only way to pass this test, says Mr. Chambers, is in learning to walk with God. Not merely walking with Him, but keeping stride with Him. The problem with this is that my little spiritual legs are no match for His; I will always fall behind. I suppose the goal is not necessarily to keep up with God--which is quite impossible for us mere humans!--but to strive to keep pace with Him. To strive to be one with Him, just as Christ was one with Him as the Word tells us.
Mr. Chambers goes on by saying,"Getting into God’s stride means nothing less than oneness with Him. It takes a long time to get there, but keep at it. Don’t give up because the pain is intense right now—get on with it, and before long you will find that you have a new vision and a new purpose."
Father, my tendency is to give up at times... Enable me through Your Spirit to persevere that I may find that new vision, Your purpose for my life.

The Cross We Bear
"God does not ask us to do the things that are naturally easy
for us—He only asks us to do the things that we are
perfectly fit to do through His grace, and that is
where the cross we must bear will always come."
~ Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest [September 25]
"You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain,
so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name
He may give to you." John 15:16 (NASB)

Even the Experts Fail!
"Even the 'experts' try and fail, try and fail. Don't be intimidated by the experts. If you encounter a plateau or a learning problem, make a list of ways to get past it: change gears, change subjects, change learning methods, take a break, try more/different creative ways of teaching." ~Joyce Herzog

God Is Working In Your Life
"No matter what difficulties you may be facing, remember that God does not want you to give up. He has a plan for you and He will strengthen you. Be ready to listen for that still, small voice, and you too will see the mighty work of God in your life." ~David Humpal
"'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. 'I will be found by you,' declares the LORD..." ~Jeremiah 29:11-14a

Great and Marvelous is Our God!
Great and Marvelous!
And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name. They held harps given them by God and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb:
"Great and marvelous are Your deeds,
Lord God Almighty.
Just and true are Your ways,
King of the ages.
Who will not fear You, O Lord,
and bring glory to Your name?
For You alone are holy.
All nations will come
and worship before You,
for Your righteous acts have been revealed."
